The Importance Of Leash Training Puppies

There are several great methods to train dogs and some not so great ways to train dogs. Finding out about leash training puppies is definitely the beginning of a good course of training. My best friend and my uncle were both dog trainers and both were successful with their endeavors, but each had a substantially different way of training their dogs.

The uncle was a trainer in the army. He was taught the way to train dogs with a stiff resolve and ways to make them working dogs with a knack of obedience and discipline. His dogs were trained with simple techniques and the dogs that stuck out as fighters were then taken into service for additional work as military or police dogs. It wasn't hard to understand which dogs were the fighters and which ones were the caretakers.

It does not take a police or military dog trainer to understand dogs and it doesn't take a dog expert to decide if a dog is actually a working dog, a hunting dog or a docile family dog. There aren't a lot of people who can fully understand the disposition of a dog except in cases where they have grown up with dogs and know the best way to assess them. My best friend who grew up to train dogs educated me in this and I've carried it with me right up until this day.

Leash training puppies is the initial step in teaching a dog how they should behave. You need to find a collar that will fit around the dog's neck without choking it. If your dog does not respond to the collar, then you should give consideration to a choke collar or a collar that constricts whenever pulled by the leash. That will be sure to attract the dog's attention.

Choking a dog is not the way to train it. Having your dog walk next to you and teaching it to respond properly by keeping pace with you is the initial step of training. Teaching the dog how to stop and sit beside you whenever you command it to do so is a major aspect of training and obedience. The dog needs to be ready to adhere to these basic commands in order to start its training.

Once your dog can walk beside you and sit on your command, then you might be all set for the next course of training that will involve something like sitting your dog down and undoing the leash and walking away while making sure your dog continues to be seated. Then, giving a command should bring your dog back to you. These are the next stages of leash training puppies.
